My dear Grand Prix died this past Friday. Here is what happened...
I went directly from school to the house where I nanny. I was there for about 20 minutes when I hear Gina (the mom) yelled for me to get the kids out of the house. I did so and once we got to the street I asked what was up, she said "Your car is on fire!" I turned around to look, and saw my sweet Pixie ABLAZE. I had parked on the driveway, next to the house 20 minutes earlier! The first thought through my head was, "Oh god! I have all of my students projects in the back seat! They worked so hard!!!!" Then I thought of everything I had in the trunk as well - my computer, my fave winter coat, tons of books and lesson plans...everything! Gina had to pretty much hold me back from running to my car to save those projects. I just stood there, in a full blown panic attack, waiting for the fire men to arrive.
When the truck arrived, the fire took 10 minutes to put out with the hoses and a huge fire extinguisher.
After it was out, the fire men asked if there was anything in the car I needed. In-between sobs, I told them everything was in that car, about the projects, my computer, everything. They went to the car and came back with everything in tow, nothing was hurt too much. The only thing that was really hurt was one project that was wet because of the hose but I can still read it!!!
Thank God nothing was hurt outside of the car itself. Thank God the house didn't catch on fire too! Thank God I have full coverage and an amazing insurance company that took car of everything, including towing. Thank God I have an amazing family that I baby-sit for who took care of me throughout the whole panic attack, the sobs and getting things taken care of. Thank God for my roomie who picked me up a half hour away from home and helped me lug everything that was in my car into the apt. Thank God for parents who calmed me down on the phone. Thank God no one was in the car or hurt throughout the process. Thank God I can borrow my mom's car for awhile until I find a replacement. Thank God, simply thank God!
I am fine though, as soon as I knew everything that was in the car was ok, especially the project and my computer, I calmed down and I am ok :)
So, here is the result. Pixie is out of commission for good. The front driver side tire blew and melted, including part of the wheel. The engine pretty much melted away, everything but the metal parts - the tubes and wires, etc are gone.
Here is how is turned out...see my rear view mirror melted!
Here you can see how close the car was to the house...so lucky it didn't catch as well!
And here is the last pic...she will be missed!

Jack has to get rid of Nessarose, his awesome cat because the apartment complex found out about her and it is just too expensive to keep her.
Does anyone want to take her? She comes with her food dish, litter box, little, food, brush, a cute little polo shirt, a house, and all her toys. If no one wants her, we will have to take her to a vet that takes in cats this weekend.

It has been ever so long since i have posted to this here journal. Life has been crazier then I expected so things such as writing online have been put on hold. My teacher assisting has gone well, although there have been some pretty sever bumps along the way. My CT (cooperating teacher - the one who's class I am working in) and I have some fairly different teaching styles, which is good and difficult. I get to learn a lot about the "other side" and broaden my horizons on how to teach people with different learning styles. The difficult part is that it is very hard for me to teach with her lessons. Not only am I learning a completely new topic for me (Mythology), I am teaching it in a way I don't quite learn myself. It is proving difficult but I am finding my way through it.
I am constantly busy which makes for little, well no time for friends. I don't like it, I miss my friends. I wake up at 5:30 every morning and am in bed by 9:30 which makes for no fun time. halfway done though, hopefully this summer will be full of smiling faces :)
I don't get to see Jack nearly enough. I adore him endlessly. Alas, with our crazy schedules that contradict I rarely see him. I am busy during the week and he is gone with GLP on the weekends. But, the time I do get with him in wondrous. I can't imagine what it will be like this fall or when he goes back to school. At least the moments I get with him are that much better :)
David and I move into the new apartment in 3.5 ish weeks. CRAZY. It should be exciting but finding time to actually move is going to be next to impossible. But Jenison, here we come. I am going to miss this house like crazy, it feels like home because of the roomies, but alas we are splitting up. Sad times. Sad, sad times.
Anywho, I think that is all the update I have. Feel free to ask questions is you wish, I know this wasn't very in depth.
I love and miss you all dearly.

So tomorrow (Sunday) a bunch of us are going to watch our lovely David and Jack run a whole heck of a lot! Everyone should go and cheer them on!! The race starts at 8am near the YMCA downtown GR, halfway point at 9:20 at Johnson Park off of Wilson Ave, and the finish line around 11:00 ish. Feel free to call me or Darren anytime for more info, to meet up with us or whatever!

We are going apple picking on Saturday. That is tomorrow!!!! Meet at Paris Earth at 11 tomorrow afternoon so we can head out to pick dem apples!
I am sorry for those this doesnt work but but everyone's sched were crazy on Sunday so I made the exec. decision to go on Sat! Bring $7 that will pay for a hay ride out to the apples and a 1/4 pec. Bring extra if you want apple cider and or donuts.

Ok!! So the weekend if almost here and I demand an apple picking outting on Sunday. What time is good for everyone. I know people have some thing to do on Sunday like running, or fursbee, or homework. Afternoon? Late afternoon? Not too late bc it gets dark sooner, and not too early bc we all like to sleep.
Give me suggestions, I shall make the final pick and post it! We can all meet at Paris Earth and leav from there. That might work best with carpooling and no one getting their butts lost!

We have postponed the apple picking field trip until next Sunday b/c people who wanted to go badly could not this weekend. So not worries, it shall be next weekend that we ALL go out and ride a wagon full of hay out to the apple trees where we will pick to our hearts content!! I am so very excited!!

Because I am silly, I havent read LJ in forever. But i did this morning and Lauren's post (awhile ago) reminded me that we should all go apple picking on Sunday.
I think we should. A big gigantic family outting - a get together of sorts, but better ebcause apples are involved (and cider, and donuts!).

oh. p.s. I am going home this weekend to meet my new "brother"! Martin, the kid from Iraq is now in the States (living with my aunt until he can get into a school in MI), but he is visitn my 'rents this weekend. So, anyways I am heading home tonight after babysitting (getting there around mindnight/1ish.) Hanging solely with family on Saturday then heading back to do lots of homework and have Terpstra family dinner on Sunday.
Weeeee! I am excited to go home, I miss my family like crazy!

I GOT THE JOB!
The people at Scott Financial FINALLY called me after 2 weeks and offered me the job! So I am now the research assistant for 10-12 hours a week at the office in Hudsonville. This totally rocks.

I hate money. I hate that I have to focus so much of my energy on it and obtaining it in order to go to school and pay my bills. I hate worrying about finding a job to get said money and I hate feeling helpless in such search.
I hope God is using this for SOMETHING useful or this is just rediculous.
